Broken Redemption is an intermediate role-play featuring stray dogs that takes place in Bandon City, which was destroyed thirty years ago. Instead of rebuilding it, humans decided to leave it as a reminder of what war can do. Occasionally hikers pass through the area, but there is little or no other human acticity. In thirty years, Bandon City has returned to nature. Three dog packs formed to rule it; Atero, Reffani, and Rengar. They lived in peace for some years, until leadership of Rengar fell to Hekmatyar. Hekmatyar began driving out all dogs with any sort of black and brown mix on their coats, and imposed his views on the other packs. In response, a rebel pack formed. The four packs do not have set personalities; the personality is decided by the leader. Right now the packs are building up their ranks, and Hekmatyar is planning on destroying Crane pack.

[ ]the rulebook
If you're thinking about joining Broken Redemption then this is the first board that you want to visit. In fact, it's mandatory that you visit this board some time before you start creating characters and roleplaying. You'll find that our rules are much different than the rules that most boards have, but it's still a good idea to read them so you're aware of our policies and guidelines.

[ ]the bulletin board
This is a place where members can come to find out about what's going on around the site. Inside there is a board for contests, and a board where we will post the winners of our monthly contests. There is a board for the staff to discuss new ideas for the site. It's probably a good idea to visit the bulletin board every once in a while to keep up to date and watch out for tryouts and contests.

[ ]character creation
So, you've read through the rules and you want to make your first character? Or maybe you've already made a character and you want to make another? Well, either way, inside there is a form that you can fill out for your characters. Of course, you can use your own format for your biographies, but make sure to include all of the information we require. Then all you have to do is wait for them to be accepted. Once you are accepted then you may begin to roleplay!

[ ]character logs
This is a board where members can keep track of all their characters, either in one thread for all of their characters or separate threads for each character. This is also a good place to come to learn a little about other characters you might be roleplaying with or may want to roleplay with later. Logs can be used to keep track of relationships and threads as well as to tell other people about your characters.

725
[ ]classifieds
If you're searching for relationships for your characters, then this is a place where you can come to find them. You can make a post in here advertising which relationships you are looking for and then other members can respond with ideas for match-ups with your character. This is a great way to meet other members and have a wider roleplaying experience. We encourage members to use this board.

532
[ ]the pound
This is where members can abandon and adopt characters. If they've created a character that they no longer want or if they're quitting and want someone to take their characters and continue roleplaying them, members can abandon their characters here. Members can also come here to adopt characters if there are any available. There is a small set of rules inside regarding the site's policy on abandoning and adopting.

11
[ ]pups!
This is where you go after your character has bred with another character. Only the player of the female is allowed to fill out forms, though the player of the male is welcome to respond to claim puppies once the litter has been decided. In the rules section of the site you can find details on when the pups are born and how long it takes them to grow up.

[ ]apple brook farm
[image]
Deep into the country of Bandon, you used to be able to see rolling hills and lush meadows full of farm animals, but now that isn't the case. The grass is bloody and dead with no animals grazing, and the hills have bullet holes deep into them, and they aren't smooth anymore. But beyond all of that lays a small farm, named Apple Brook Farm. The house is an old-fashioned log house, with nothing inside of it since the owners, Mr. and Mrs. Brook, packed up and left. There is a barn located very close to the house. It’s like any normal barn; red and white with a tin roof. The roof is caved in due to rough weather and neglect, since no one is around to care for it. You can still find the hay that used to be in the loft. The old farmhouse is a plain white structure with a roof that has begun to cave in and slope to one side. Inside, the house looks just as it did thirty years ago, with the addition of a lot of dust and cobwebs. The stables are probably the source of the wild horses that have now spread out across the area, and the barn is probably the source of the wild cows. Chickens still roam the area as well, probably from the large chicken collection that the Brooks kept while they still lived here. Wild hogs also roam the area after the pigs escaped when the Brook’s left. Thanks to them, the forests around the city, and parts of the city itself, have a lot of escaped animals that have bred and become wild. They make good sources of food for predators. Still, they tend to struggle to survive, so they aren’t overpopulated, or even all that common. The farm is a common place for many creatures to find shelter and food for a night or two, and it’s a nice little sight to see as well.

[ ]blue lake park
[image]
Blue Lake Park was originally a naturally formed lake that was located on the outskirts of Bandon City. When the technology was finally available, the humans decided to expand the lake and turn it into a relaxing park. Soon they had developed a large lake bordered by smooth lawns and park benches. The lake used to have a section that was devoted to children for swimming, while the rest was for boaters and fishing. Now there is no designated swimming section. The entire lake is full of fish and the lawns are overgrown fields. The buildings that were once boat rental stores, bathrooms, food stands, picnic areas, and staff buildings are now almost all piles of rubble. Some were destroyed by bombs. Others were simply worn down by the elements until they collapsed. They are homes to mice, birds, and other small animals that can find shelter in the rubble. Other animals come to the lake – which is wild compared to what it was before the humans left – to drink, rest, and find food. Now that nature has taken back what used to be hers in the first place the lake blends in completely with it’s surroundings. It’s as if humans had never been here, with the exception of the piles of rubble that were once buildings. The trees are even beginning to grow where they were cut down to create the open fields that border the lake. This place is wildly beautiful, and if humans were to return then they would quickly attempt to tame the lake once more.

[ ]st. mark's bridge
[image]
St. Mark’s Bridge was designed by a human by the name of Markus Kinnley, who was named a saint by the Catholic Church before he built the bridge that crosses Parello River at Bandon City. It was named St. Mark’s Bridge in his honor. When it was built, it was a beautiful structure with tall towers and the ability to be raised if a ship had needed to pass through. It was made with some of the most durable metal available at the time, and even though it has been neglected for the last thirty years it is still intact and it very good condition. The fighting never came quite this far during the war, so it was untouched by blasts of any kind. Still, another thirty years and it will probably be brought down by a mixture of weathering from the elements and the destructive properties of pigeon droppings. Indeed, thousands of pigeons seem to call this bridge home now, and their droppings will eventually erode the supports that hold the bridge up and intact. Stress from the rain and snow each year will also work away at the supports, until they finally give way to the elements. Eventually bits and pieces of the structure will begin to collapse. Still, the bridge continues to serve as a way into the city for some animals, like the dogs that flock to Bandon, and it may hold up for many long years to come.

[ ]parello river
[image]
Parello river runs right by Bandon City. Part of the city is actually situated right on the edge of the river. The city was nearly called “Portland” because it served as a port on the mighty river, but Bandon was chosen instead. The river is one of the largest in the country that Bandon is situated in, and is about eight twelve hundred miles long. It ends in the nearest ocean and begins at a lake source that is not too far from Bandon. The part of the river near Bandon is about a mile wide and moves fairly fast. There is some white water, but other than that the current isn’t very visible. The river used to be traversed by hundreds of boards each day, but now it is quite and empty. No dog can swim it, however, and it would be dangerous to try swimming in any part of it. There are a few eddies along the shore line where it is shallow enough for wading and fishing during dry months and some of the streams and rivers that branch off of the river are perfect for swimming. The river is bordered by the city on one side and is bordered by thick forests on the other. There is a bridge that crosses from the city to the forested side of the river and that can be used to leave and enter the city. There is an island at the center of the river, but it is unreachable. The large, flat expanse of water is beautiful, but dangerous to anyone who would dare to try and swim it.

[ ]providence mental institute
[image]
When first approaching Providence Mental Institute one probably wouldn’t think that it was a home for the mentally unsound. Unless they took the time to read the sign, that is. Today, however, the sign is largely worn away and covered over by vines. Parts of the very large building have been completely obliterated as well, making it more unrecognizable. But when you walk inside you can tell instantly that it was built to keep people in. There are heavy locks on most of the doors, remains of cameras on many walls, and guard rooms where nurses and security officers used to stay. The interior is white and empty, with tile floors and plaster walls. The individual rooms where patients used to stay in have plain white beds. This place looks more like a prison than a hospital at times. There are old television sets where the patients used to gather and watch a few channels when they could. Old tan wooden chairs can be found throughout the hospital; standard issue for the patients and staff alike. There is one untouched room down in the basement that contains urns with the ashes of some patients that died here; they were never claimed by their families, and so they were stored here in the hospital. The building spans a large area of land and has several open fields that were going to be used to develop more wings for the hospital. This is a sad, unforgiving place, but a pack of dogs has managed to make its home here.

[ ]bandon penitentiary
[image]
Bandon penitentiary is a huge, stone structure that remained largely intact during the war because of how solid it is. Before the war, most of the prisoners were evacuated, though the high-security ones were forced to remain here, where they either died in blasts or escaped later on. The exterior of the prison looks a bit like a castle. The designers wanted to make the structure intimidating so that anyone who was sentenced to time behind it’s walls would be afraid of what they may have to endure. Escape was difficult. The land that the prison was built on is not the kind of land that you can easily tunnel through, and getting passed the gigantic walls was a task that only the most resourceful and determined could escape through. Now, however, the walls have holes in them, as do many of the buildings, and parts of it have collapsed entirely. The interior is lonely and built of metal, filled with simple cells designed to make the prisoners as uncomfortable as possible. But the guards that often lived here along with the warden had a small portion of the prison to themselves, where they had nice beds, a kitchen for warm meals, and the luxury of television and internet and private bathrooms. Still, some of that was destroyed in a blast, while many of the cells stayed intact because of the steel and stone structure that was created to hold people inside without giving them any chance of escape, even in war. This is a desolate place that few would dare to call home, with the exception of the pack of dogs that lives here.

Reffani Pack Territory

[ ]baudet chateau
[image]
Baudet Chateau was once a beautiful structure, and even though it was damaged in the war and is no longer cared for by humans, it is an amazing place. Built at the end of the eighteenth century, the chateau is comprised of a main building, mainly intact and largely useable, that is about one and a half stories high with a steeply sloped roof. An imposing bridle path, used by hunters, leads up to the main building. The kitchen once had it’s own garden, but that is now overgrown with a thousand different types of invasive plants that moved in when the humans left. The chateau grounds cover an amazing amount of land There used to be a set of outbuildings, finely crafted and well-kept, that were destroyed in the war. The rest of the land, with the exception of a few craters here and there in the fields behind the chateau, was left mostly untouched. It wasn’t a good point for the soldiers to defend, so they stayed away from it. A large amount of forested land belongs to the Chateau as well. It looks the same as it did a hundred years ago, as much hunting was done in it and it was never really developed. Around the chateau itself are several gardens, now overgrown, that still contain fruit trees and berry bushes, as well as some other wild edibles. It is a great place for some animals to find a good meal, if you can get passed the dog pack that lives there. They have taken over everything, including the forested land behind the chateau.

[ ]westbrook cemetery
[image]
Westbrook Cemetery was left largely intact when Bandon was bombed during the war, but parts are it are still littered with bits and pieces of debris from nearby buildings and headstones that were destroyed in smaller blasts. Some of the headstones are marked with impressions from bullets or flying debris, from a time when the war moved into the city itself. After twenty-eight years of no upkeep by humans, many of the headstones have begun to weather away under attack from the elements. Only the very well-made ones are still readable, and almost all of them have been taken over by ivy or some other kind of invasive plant. Though it wasn’t always, the graveyard is a dark, shadowy place now; there are more trees than there were when humans cared for the grounds, and many of them are so overgrown that they overshadow large sections of the cemetery. Bushes that haven’t been trimmed back in years choke the ground in some places, often preventing grass from growing or completely hiding headstones. Despite the dark, often foreboding nature of the graveyard, a lot of wildlife can be found here, from squirrels and rabbits, to foxes, cats, and raccoons. Dogs seem to avoid this place if they can, but some might be found taking shelter beneath the wide canopies of the trees here. Or maybe some just dogs just like the dark feeling of the cemetery.

[ ]oskeli pond
[image]
Oskeli Pond used to be a small pond in a large city park near the edges of the city, away from the tall buildings and closer to the homes of the citizens. The park has a crater or two from during the war, but a lot of it was untouched by and bombs or bullets, which was lucky since this is, perhaps, the most beautiful place in the entire city. Of course, now it’s largely overgrown. If the humans ever returned to the site they would find that it looked nothing like their beautiful park from thirty years ago. While it is still a lovely place, it is much more like a forest than a park now, with trees that have grown thick, grass that has grown very tall, and bushes and ferns that choke the space beneath the trees. The pond, once surrounded by beautiful well-trimmed lawns and a few carefully place trees, is now surrounded by thick, tall grasses and several new trees, as well as thick undergrowth. The pond, originally planned very carefully to be a specific shape and free of almost all plants, is now misshapen and bordered by wild cattails, reeds, and water lilies. Instead of keeping the shape that humans gave to it, over the years floods and droughts have changed the pond, turning it into a real lake instead of a manmade pond. Ducks frequent here still, as they did when humans were present, and fish are abundant in the waters. This place, because of it’s wild nature, is a good place for hunting or even for living in for a time.

[ ]kenane airport
[image]
Kenane Airport is small. Bandon was not a widely visited city, and was in a secluded part of the country. But the airport is large enough to support a moderately sized pack of dogs. Since the airport is just outside of the main city, it doesn’t get in the way of the other packs. Since this is Crane Pack’s home, that is perfect. A lot of large runways make up the territory, and there are a few open fields with ponds filled with fish that attract wildlife quite frequently. The runways have been attacked by weeds and grass that found cracks in the asphalt and cement and managed to start growing. Now large sections of the runways are broken by large ivy-like plants and gigantic weeds and tall grasses. The fields are overgrown with grass and are the perfect place for birds to hide, and the ponds have gone wild, though they were never really kept up by the humans in the first place. The airport buildings have been attacked by nature as well; some of the walls have been brought down by vines. Of the three large buildings that make up the airport, one was completely destroyed by bombs, and now it looks like a ruin, overrun with plants and frequented by the many animals that call the city home. One of the other buildings was only half destroyed, but may be close to collapse and is not the safest place for anything to wander about. The third building is very much intact and contains all of the normal places that an airport might have for its guests, including restaurants and gift shops, as well as restrooms. It is the perfect place for a pack of outcast stray dogs to live.

Crane Pack Territory

[ ]shepherd's dell apartments
[image]
The largest apartment complex in Bandon, Shepherd’s Dell was designed for the rich. While a large part of it was destroyed by a stay bomb back sometime during the war and parts of it have collapsed since, there is a portion that still stands today, and is still very stable. When counted, there are about twenty apartments still intact, and most of them are located in the main section of the complex that is still standing. There are three stories to what is left of each building, One building has just one floor left, while three have all three floors intact and safe to use. Of course, the exterior of the buildings doesn’t look at all like it used to, and most wouldn’t believe that these were fancy apartments meant for those who could afford to live a life of luxury. But when you walk inside one of the twenty apartments left, you’ll quickly see that this place is one of the nicest abodes in the city. The walls are decorated with fancy wallpapers or expensive paints in vibrant colors, depending on who the owner was, and are made out of very durable building materials. The furniture is leather or some other high-quality material, and are extremely comfortable to take a rest on. Tables and chairs are made out of the finest wood available and it isn’t uncommon to find two or three computers or laptops in one apartment. The bathrooms are very nice, and usually quite clean, but the wear and tear of years of neglect does show in the form of dust, rust, cobwebs, and a few overgrown plants.

[ ]kouheu shopping center
[image]
The shopping center, or mall, was the only one ever built in Bandon. There are other stores around the city, but not all in one place as they are here. The mall was built just a few years before the war, so it never saw much use. Most of the stores are still filled with merchandise, though some were raided by humans not too long after the war. Surprisingly, there is still some jewelry in the jewelry shops, though a few of the clothing stores are very empty. Anything food related has all but rotted away, with the exception of some canned foods. For the first year or two there were some very bad smells to be found throughout the mall as food in the refrigerated sections – which stopped working when humans left – began to spoil and rot away. Most of what was in boxes, like cereal, was scavenged by rats and mice and ants or other small animals. There is nothing left for the dogs who took over the city, or any of the other animals, now that thirty years have passed since the war. Of course, hunting for predators may be good, considering the fact that many animals like to take refuge in the mall. A few plants have begun to creep into the stores, especially from the plant shop that was located near the center of the mall. Parts of the mall were destroyed in several blasts that hit the area during the fighting, and parts of it are highly unsafe to be found in. Near the plant shop, where some of the walls were weakened by the blasts, vines have strengthened the walls and now hold them together, though in some places they had an opposite effect and knocked the walls down, collapsing sections of an entire floor.
